Our Corporate Responsibility Approach, Goals & Progress

Silicon Labs is committed to becoming a sustainable leader in the semiconductor industry, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles throughout our business. Our strategy is guided by engagement with our key stakeholders, focusing our sustainability goals in five strategic areas: employee wellbeing, product and services innovation, eco-efficient operations, climate change mitigation, and responsible supply chain.

Product Innovation

Product innovation is central to the Silicon Labs culture and important for our success in the markets we serve. It’s a strategic topic that includes product development,manufacturing, safety & quality, distribution, use, maintenance & security, and recycling. Our approach to evaluating the environmental impacts of our product portfolio can be broken down into three focus areas:

  • Assessing our product portfolio (covering 100% of products) and carrying out an inventory of raw materials (including hazardous substances), GHG emissions, energy use, water use, and waste generation.
  • Selecting products for a detailed life cycle analysis using industry best practices and standards.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement.

Environmental Management & Climate Change Mitigation

As a responsible member of the global community, Silicon Labs works hard to minimize the impact of our actions. Environmental management & climate change mitigation is a strategic topic that includes waste management, water management, energy management, greenhouse gas emissions, and biodiversity. 

We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint by focusing on science-based goals to lower greenhouse gas emissions. This includes expanding our greenhouse gas inventory, reducing energy consumption, and transitioning our global facilities to renewable energy.



Energy & Emissions Goals

90% absolute reduction in scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by the end of 2030 versus a 2021 baseline.


100% renewable energy use in all facilities where programs are available by end of 2025.


5% absolute waste reduction at our Austin headquarters versus 2023 baseline.

Supply Chain Management

Silicon Labs prioritizes exceptional product quality and ethical practices in our supply chain. Our commitment ensures safe working conditions, respectful treatment of workers, and environmentally responsible manufacturing.

  • Our major suppliers are required to be ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified, and abide by our Supplier Code of Conduct.
  • In 2022, we joined the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), the world’s largest industry coalition dedicated to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in global supply chains.
  • Silicon Labs requires all its suppliers to source from third-party audited conflict-free smelters, maintain a conflict-free sourcing policy, and comply with OECD due diligence guidelines.

We have a strong corporate governance framework and a defined set of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the success of the company, generating value for our stakeholders, and fulfilling our mission of building a smarter, more connected world.

Silicon Labs develops leading IoT platforms across a wide range of protocols and ecosystems to facilitate quick creation of secure, intelligent connected devices. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has great potential to enhance our development of these IoT platforms, to increase product quality and reliability, and to improve customer and developer experience. We are committed to the ethical and responsible application of AI tools. We've formed a cross-functional AI Council to investigate the use of AI tools, provide guidance in the applications of AI tools, and review and approve AI initiatives.
