Matter Device Development - Works With 2023

Matter devices are making their way into our homes since the release of the first specification late last year. Matter development has also accelerated, with more and more focus on certification, performance, and development speed. We’re coming up on the first full year of the Matter protocol being available for developers, and during Works With 2023, the developers, manufacturers, and the brands driving the Matter standard forward shared the latest developments and insights for its future in the smart home and industrial applications.

MAT-201: Building a Secure Matter Solution

The Matter protocol, which uses either Thread or Wi-Fi for connectivity, is quickly becoming a household technology. However, while Thread and Wi-Fi protocols provide advanced security features, they cannot protect users from attacks on the end-device themselves. This session describes the security components needed to build a secure Matter device.

MAT-202: Develop Future-Ready Gateways with Matter

This session explores the best practices of gateway design from the end-to-end system design perspective and highlight some of the common pitfalls. We also concentrate on the specifics relevant to Matter-enabled gateways and lay out key points to consider in the design and how our Unify SDK provides the building blocks to simplify and accelerate your IoT gateway development.

MAT-203: Developing Matter Devices for Smart Home Ecosystems

This course will cover the Matter developer journey with Silicon Labs. Matter is the new application layer standard for the smart home, and all of the major smart home ecosystems like Google, Apple, Amazon, and Samsung SmartThings are adding support.

MAT-204: Smarter Home Designs with Matter and Thread

In this session we review Silicon Lab's Matter over Thread solutions including hardware, software, and tools. We will then step through how easy it is to develop a Matter over Thread device using our sample applications in Simplicity Studio. We also commission the device onto a major ecosystem provider’s Matter network.

MAT-301: Designing for Matter over Wi-Fi

In this session we discuss how to develop with the Silicon Labs SiWx917 Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth LE solution for Matter over Wi-Fi. We demonstrate how to compile and run a SiWx917 sample app, commission the device via Bluetooth LE to obtain Wi-Fi credentials, and wirelessly control your development board using Matter over Wi-Fi from Matter ecosystem devices.

Where Innovation Meets Implementation

Works With, the premier Silicon Labs developer event of the year, is back! This year will feature three regional, in-person developer events in San Jose, Hyderabad and Shanghai.
